Arctic Ice Fishing
Under the guidance of your expert instructor, you’ll experience the thrill of catching an Arctic Char from the depths of Lake Torneträsk!
Experience Arctic ice fishing in Abisko on a guided winter tour led by experienced local guides.
Using traditional ice drills, we create a fishing hole in the ice and set out to fish for Arctic species, including Arctic char, a fish well adapted to the cold Arctic waters. While waiting for a bite, your guide prepares a warming fire where you can enjoy a hot drink and, when conditions allow, cook freshly caught fish.
Depending on ice conditions early in the season, the tour takes place on a smaller nearby lake before Lake Torneträsk is safely frozen. Once conditions allow, the experience moves onto Torneträsk, reached by snowmobile. When fishing on Torneträsk, a wooden hut is available for shelter and warmth, offering a comfortable place to relax during the experience.

- The trip starts at 09:30 and we will return at 11:30. The trip includes warm clothing and hot beverages. Please be at our starting point 15 minutes before the scheduled starting time. The trip starts at the small red-and-white building located at Karvens väg 18 in Abisko Östra. You will see an Activities In Abisko sign just outside of the building. It is a 10 minute walk from Abisko.net and the Abisko Mountain Lodge and about a five-minute walk from the Abisko Guesthouse.
Please be at our starting point 15 minutes before the scheduled starting time.
- Guests staying at STF Abisko Tourist Station will be picked up for no extra charge, 30 minutes before the scheduled starting time.
- Guests staying at Abisko Mountain Lodge and Abisko.net Hostel and Huskies can choose to be picked up from the Abisko Mountain Lodge parking lot, 20 minutes before the scheduled starting time.
